so i was flying trans, i landed to let some troops out and drop a crate, we took heavy fire and i knew i wasnt going to be taking off alive so i bailed out of the heli and joined the squad i was dropping off.

what would you do in this scenario as a pilot?

i would have tried to save the aircraft, but if it was for sure downed then i would stay with the squad until i could be airlifted out by another pilot.

Definitely would not have left the squad as people are depending on a steady supply of trans and crates.

Usually, when i join a particular squad, i stay with it thru the end of round.

Others may have other ways but thats mine....

I have to agree with Super on that. Trans squads are usually locked so it can be a hassle to get a new pilot. You will also find that the pilot community is small so any actions you do wont be soon forgotten. Once they think your unreliable its hard to get back in.

no no i didn't leave my trans squad, i mean i physically joined their squad not changed squads, they eventually escorted me back to a fob and i got a pickup by another pilot

Sounds like you had a fun game. Nice of them to escort you.. that's pretty rare.
