Dropped the safe, no-harm-done version of the 'n' word (A LA, no hard 'r') casually and playfully to a friend in prematch voip.

Got it, context doesn't matter; words be illegal. Never again.

Who are you protecting?  Why is the punishment the same for someone who's spamming ‘N-word-hard-R’ in All Chat, and for someone who casually dropped the “safer” version of that word to a mate?

It *is* a global community, and I wasn’t using the word constantly, or in bad faith; I did it once - for the first time ever.  It didn’t occur to me that I was dropping some hot potatoes.

A warning, a kick, or a one hour ban would have taught me the same lesson that a longer one would’ve, minus the feelings of bad faith. It just doesn’t sit right when the punishment feels disproportionate to the crime... surely you can sympathise with that. 

No discussion, nothin'. It's a shame HOG is such a dichotomy of good rule enforcement (no free-kit squads, cohesion, no griefing, strict DOD rules) and absolutely mind-boggling, dangerously inflexible and seemingly whimsical criminalisation and punishment of relatively miniscule infractions.

Throw the baby out with the bathwater? Fuck yeah! Fuck that baby. They should have studied the rules to death.

Someone goes and says 'nibba'?  It's not just that they technically broke a strict rule - no. In what seems to be many of your eyes, they are a legitimate racist. Do you realise how insane that comes off as? You have admins very self-righteously responding to some ban appeals, stating that some innocent dumb kid saying 'what's up nibbas' is a bona fide RACIST.

Maybe y'all weren't always like this, maybe this is a natural progression for this kind of server holding out in this kind of community, but I doubt it. I remember HOG was just the same when I started playing over a decade ago. Take a look at yourselves.
