1) Don't use the web client, download the desktop client here:
discordapp.com/download
2) Once installed, right click the shortcut on your desktop and go to Properties>Compatibility. Check "Run this program as an administrator" under the settings section. Press OK.
That will allow you to use while in-game

why cant we use the web client?

You're on windows xp?! I suppose you can use the web client. I think you'll just have to do the same "run as admin" step. Running in your browser will probably take up more CPU/Memory compared to the desktop client.
