What is the Role of Commander? was created by Sgt. Strudel
What is the Role of a Commander? Is it to use UAV and point out FOBS? Is it to direct several squads to different objectives? Is it simply to build a FOB so when you die, you have somewhere to respon? As this particular game has progressed, roles of Commanders seems to be nullified by wanabee heroes and persons that want to only do one role. A commander has to be well rounded and understand the battlefield if they want there team to succeed. So ask again, What is the Role of a Commander?

thanks...was asking what you thought the about the role. Do you think the commander should ask squads to attack targets, move to areas of the map, etc.

Depends from player to player. Some player use CMD role to send out orders (where to attack/move etc.), some use it to build FOBs, but most use it to relay intel gained from UAV (which is the most important thing to do imho).
Personally, i think the CMD's primary role should be to focus on UAV to gain intel and relay the intel to SLs. Secondary role is to coordinate the squads with that intel, since he has a clear overview with his map of what is going on in the field.
FOB the Builder CMDs should be least utilized and only used if there is no other alternative. Commander in the middle of the battlefield is useless commander imo.

All of the above, and if you aren't actively leading as a commander you should vacate the role as quickly as possible. Accept an area attack and leave, or drop a FOB and leave while you build it up.
If you are actively using the role, while waiting for the UAV to fuel you can drop two FOBs with a logi or trans.
Commanders should be looking for gaps in the team and trying to either fill the gap themselves (build a fob) or communicating with the squad leaders to make sure it isn't ignored. Like an enemy attack or undefended flag.
