Not at all what I expected...first, I thought once they started the reaction it couldn't be shut down to zero? Second, I thought they used to reaction to make steam to push a turbine which creates the 1Mw power. So, since I don't have a full understanding of the technology it must be dangerous and therefore banned.

they can be shut down and it does do that how you said, the reactor itself doesnt create the power.

wow...HTF does one stop a chain nuclear reaction? Clearly, pouring water on it doesn't work. Guess it's Wiki time for me, huh? My ban on nuclear energy is hereby lifted...for now.

Its not a reactor that produces electricity, its way to small for that. Its an experimental reactor. It does not even have a protective dome. The Mw1 is thermal energy.
