Yes, I am also pleased to see him again. If Western values are to prevail, then it can only be in an environment where freedom of speech is respected.

You have NO freedom of speech in a community server. Not sure why you can't understand that.

We're not a government agency. You do NOT have freedom of speech here. If you want to play around with the server rules and say something you shouldn't say, then you'll most likely find out.

lespyd, I am not sure why you think I have failed to understand something. The statement I made is true in itself, and is not supposed to imply that any particular server admin is thereby compelled to take a particular position. I well understand that not everyone places the same value on individual freedom. (Edit: I've tried to fix the broken quote above, but for some reason it doesn't want to take.)

I am well aware that you are not a government agency. I simply hope you accept that someone may disagree with you on a topic without disrespecting your right to run things your way.

The thing about free speech as it used to exist in the West is that it was never about government force: it was a shared cultural value that people upheld among themselves without needing to have a government agency involved.

Although I am not so old, I am nonetheless old enough to remember what gaming used to be like before 2012 (which various commentators have identified as the year we took the great leap into clownworld). In, say, 2007 you could use a game server and be sure that you could get kicked/banned for teamkilling, cheating, or spamming adverts for viagra. However, the idea that you had to conform to a particular political position on race would have seemed simply absurd. Racial slurs were so common that they pretty much lost their force. They were no more significant than people calling each other noobs.

Over the past few years a coordinated message has been pumped out by the mainstream media, by Hollywood, and by academia that black people can be proud to be black, Mexicans can be proud to be Mexicans, but somehow any white person who is proud to be white thereby becomes a Nazi/white supremacist/racist. A growing number of ordinary good-natured people are noticing this double-standard, and noticing how "anti-racism" is being used a club to beat them over the head with while all around them their social environment gets changed beyond recognition.

Gaming is an escape from this for a lot of people. When game servers get used to push political agendas, this is bound to produce at least some kind of response.

I respect your right to run your server your way, and I hope you see that I have no desire to insult you or to make anyone's life worse in any way. I am simply using your forum for what I suppose is its intended purpose; the exchange of views on a topic.

Best wishes!
